Behavioral Health Data Improvement
| |
Many Montana and Wyoming Tribes use the Indian Health Service (IHS) substance abuse treatment funds to provide rehabilitation for the people afflicted by substance abuse/addiction on their reservation. The IHS has the Behavioral Health Software Program (BH3.0) for data entry, but most staff members are not adequately trained to enter data into or extract data from the system. Training is limited due to funding and high staff turnover rate. This limits the accuracy of data on services provided, populations served, types of problems and substances that are being used, and the outcomes of the treatment to the barest minimal. The goal of the Behavioral Health Data Improvement project is to assess the needs of the Tribal Chemical Dependency program staff in collecting, entering and extracting data on the services provided using the IHS BH software and the AccuCare system by performing a needs assessment. Training will be offered based on the recommendations from the needs assessment in order for data to be collected and used by the Tribal Government and Tribal Health Department to improve the quality of client services
