OMH - Methamphetamine Needs Assessment

The Office of Minority Health (OMH) commissioned an assessment of State Minority Health Infrastructure and Capacity to address issues in health disparity. As part of the study, OMH asked that an assessment of four cross cutting issues be included: Data collection and analysis, Cultural competence, Access to health care, Health professions development.

OMH Methamphetamine (Meth) survey grant which supports the assessment of meth use, and its impact on Tribal communities was awarded to RMTEC to perform a Meth Needs Assessment on two Reservations in Montana and Wyoming.

The purpose of this survey was to increase knowledge and understanding of Methamphetamine use and its health risk factors in Indian country. The information gathered will help identify availability of Methamphetamine prevention and treatment services, barriers to accessing services, and its impact on tribal communities. Furthermore, the survey will assist in the development of strategies to address Methamphetamine use and its adverse outcomes in American Indian communities.
