This project will work with the Ft Peck (MT), Wind River (WY), and Rosebud (SO) Tribes on tribal public health integration into the multi-jurisdictional health system. The project includes three major components 1) development of advisory groups from each of the participating reservation; 2) a comprehensive literature and legal review, and 3) a case study of the 2006 Shigella outbreak that occurred on each of the participating Reservations listed above. The case study includes individual and focus group interviews of people from State, local, IHS, and Tribal agencies who were involved in the outbreak. The results will be used to develop a model for outbreak and emergency response on Reservations that integrates the Tribal Public Health System into the multi-jurisdictional health system. |
